by Fady Ramsis • Experienced Math Tutor & Mechanical Engineer
Hi! I’m here to help students who are struggling with math.
My goal is to make math clear and enjoyable, so you can improve your grades while also discovering its elegance and beauty.
I am a practicing Mechanical Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Engineering from Cape Breton University and Dalhousie University. I have experience with private tutoring, group sessions, and working at the Math Help Center on Dalhousie’s Agricultural campus.
What do a playground swing, a Ferris wheel, and a Slinky have in common? They’re all fun — and they’re all governed by the same mathematics: the sine function.
Even though they look completely different, they share the same underlying principle. The pendulum represents the swing, uniform circular motion represents the Ferris wheel, and the spring represents the Slinky.
There’s a deep beauty in knowing that a single elegant equation can describe so many seemingly unrelated things. It reveals a truth that exists independently of us — and that consistency brings a sense of humility and wonder.
Move the sliders and watch how a pendulum, a dot on a circle, and a mass on a spring all move to the same mathematical tune.
"Summer of 2019 I took a differential course and was in need of tutoring to help me with the assignments and test preparation. Fady was an excellent support and tutor; he not only helped me in understanding the question and solutions but also the theory behind the calculations. Fady was patient and knowledgeable and an excellent tutor that I would recommend to anyone needing help and a better understanding of math."
"I highly recommend Fady Ramsis as a tutor. Fady is very professional, friendly, and willing to help the student learn the material. Fady tutored my daughter Drew in calculus (grade 12) in 2018. Drew and Fady would meet once a week at our house (or as required), and prior to a quiz or test we would schedule an extra tutoring session. Fady also kindly offered if Drew had any questions she thought of after their tutoring session she could email him as well. Fady has a good understanding of the material which enabled him to explain the material in different ways to help the student understand. If you have any questions regarding Fady’s tutoring please do not hesitate to contact me, April Marshall- Pettis - email: April.MarshallPettis@gmail.com"
"I have known Fady for over 6 years now and know him to be a man of high moral standards, kind, compassionate and very intelligent. Fady has been working for a number of years professionally and everyone that works with him will support him with a reference. On the mathematics and teaching/tutoring front, Fady is passionate about mathematics. Fady has a degree in mathematics and breezed through the math requirements of the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program. Often Fady helped his fellow learners with new concepts and math challenges. I suggest to you that if you commit to work with Fady, he will find you where you are with your mathematics skills and bring you up to the level you need to work on your own. Often there are small barriers that have to be knocked down and then you yourself can master the concepts and language."
Tutoring is available online and in-person (Nova Scotia). A free introductory evaluation session is offered. Rates start at $20/hr, varying by scope and grade level. Undergraduate-level mathematics courses are included. Online sessions feature an interactive virtual whiteboard and other specialized tools.
